Please join us for GSOLE’s Annual Member Gathering! In the past, we have held this session at CCCC, but this year, we’ll meet online on April 15, Noon ET. At this Zoom session, you’ll have an opportunity to learn, engage, and contribute.

Listen to our featured speaker, Dr. Wonderful Faison, to reflect, refocus, and re-energize. Dr. Wonderful will provide us with food for thought in her short opening presentation and Q & A session: “WOKE: Welcoming, Online Literacy, Knowledge, and Equity in Troubling Educational Times.” What can we learn about diversity and inclusion by listening to the many stories complicating our understanding of these broad aims?

Learn about GSOLE’s programs, progress, and initiatives. Over the past year, GSOLE has been busy expanding our services and programs and redoubling our efforts to advance inclusion, equity, and access within the organization. While there’s still more work to do, we’re eager to showcase the remarkable work GSOLE volunteers have already produced. After the opening presentation and Q & A, we will briefly review the work of our established and emerging programs.

Engage with colleagues equally passionate about supporting students and fellow instructors. The second half of the gathering will involve breakout sessions on different topics. In these sessions, our program leaders will take questions, invite input, and promote dialogue on our core initiatives: the annual online conference, our webinar series, certification courses, open-source publications and resources, and research support. We’ll also have breakout rooms for other topics, including these important “elephants in the Zoom”: accessibility and inclusion, antiracist pedagogies, and personal/professional wellbeing during COVID times.

Contribute your ideas and talents to benefit the whole community. We are eager to hear what members would like from GSOLE: share your ideas and priorities in the breakout sessions. But we would also encourage members to get involved as volunteers. The breakout sessions will allow members to talk with program leaders about ways to contribute. Of course, by serving on a GSOLE committee or in a program support role, you won’t just help our community--you’ll learn new things, meet smart people, and, we hope, have fun rubbing elbows (Zoom boxes?) with colleagues!

Registration is required to attend this event. Existing members, please login before registering. (Member registration is enabled after logging in.) Registration is free and open to all online literacy professionals (although space is limited).
